Matt Lanter in Disaster Movie (2008)

Disaster.

This could be the shortest movie review I have ever written, don't watch "Disaster Movie" it doesn't even qualify as a spoof movie and bypasses the so bad it's good and goes straight to the point of being terrible as hell. Don't believe me, well look at other reviews, look at the imdb bottom 100 movies list, in fact spending 10 minutes reading up on "Disaster Movie" is more entertaining than the movie itself. But then I suppose I could say what else do you expect from Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer who despite having been part of the writing team behind "Scary Movie" have since delivered one terrible spoof movie after another.

So as to "Disaster Movie" well what we get is 87 minutes of nothing, no jokes, no story and no decent cameos. The idea as you would imagine is to spoof a disaster movie whilst drawing on other recognizable movies. But what we get feels like someone has basically spent their spare time writing up what they think are funny versions of famous movie scenes and characters and then chucking them together with nothing to link them. So we get versions of "Juno", "Indian Jones", "Hellboy" and a lot more but with none of them being funny or really linking together.

So what that means is for just short of 90 minutes there is nothing which is fun, nothing to make you smile, nothing to keep you interested but a lot of jokes to insult the audiences intellect. I would suggest the only people who are laughing are probably Friedberg and Seltzer who might be making money for making one of the worst movies ever made. In fact I wonder whether the joke is that they have gone out to make the worst movie ever to add to their notoriety.

What this all boils down to is that even if you like bad movies give "Disaster Movie" a miss, it is a disaster and one of the worst movies you will ever see if you dare.
