Raymond Burr in Perry Mason: The Case of the Telltale Talk Show Host (1993)

Perry's Talk Show

After a series of threats Dr Sheila Carlin (Mariette Hartley) calls her friend Della (Barbara Hale) who along with Perry (Raymond Burr) and Ken (William R. Moses) comes to assist. With Sheila believing it is someone at the radio station where she works behind the threats Perry agrees to go in to be interviewed on air by Winslow Keene (Regis Philbin) who not only hosts a show but is the station owner. When Keene informs everyone that there are going to be changes to everyone's shows it doesn't go down well especially as he will sack anyone who complains. After Sheila confronts Winslow over things she ends up sacked but then later on chief suspect when Winslow is murdered. Fortunately she has Perry, Della and Ken in her corner who set about solving who it was who hired a hitman to kill Winslow.

Could it be Montel, or Liddy and how about Ferrare? Now I will be honest I am not up on my 90s American TV celebrities so whilst as I watched "Perry Mason: The Case of the Telltale Talk Show Host" I recognized Montel Williams and of course Regis Philbin I am not entirely sure who the other actors were who we meet as hosts at the radio station. But I get a sense that part of this movie's draw is in fact these were recognizable American celebrities back in 1993 which American audiences might find amusing. Of course I could be barking up the wrong tree but it certainly has that feel about it.

Montel Williams in Perry Mason: The Case of the Telltale Talk Show Host (1993)

Anyway what you get in "Perry Mason: The Case of the Telltale Talk Show Host" is the usual, entertaining thriller as we have Perry having friendly chats with people who work at the radio station, more often than not handing them a subpoena at the end of their little chats. At the same time we have Ken doing the usual leg work, ending up giving chase and getting himself into some scrapes in the process. As I said it is entertaining but "Perry Mason: The Case of the Telltale Talk Show Host" never stands out from any other Perry Mason movie even with a few famous faces in supporting roles.

What this all boils down to is that "Perry Mason: The Case of the Tell tale Talk Show Host" is entertaining and will certainly be enjoyable for those familiar with various American celebrities from the early 90s. But this is purely a routine Perry Mason TV movie which doesn't stand out from the crowd.
