Dumb and Dumber To (2014)

Simply Dumber

After picking up his mail from his parents for the first time in twenty two years Harry Dunn finds out that he has a child which is a good thing as he is in need of a kidney transplant. So with his best friend Lloyd Christmas by his side they first try and find Fraida, his child's mother to meet them. But then they discover Harry had a daughter who was adopted and when Lloyd sees how hot she is insists they keep on going till they find her.

The last movie I watched before watching "Dumb and Dumber To" was a Laurel & Hardy movie, now you may be wondering why I mention it but in a way Laurel & Hardy movies have a bit in common with "Dumb and Dumber To" as they are both driven by the gags. The thing is that the humour of Laurel & Hardy was often clever and the duo were likeable where as the comedy in "Dumb and Dumber To" is stupid, offensive whilst Harry and Lloyd are annoying. Of course that is their brand, moronic characters and moronic comedy but when the moronic comedy is not actually funny, well the end result is a movie which fails to entertain.

The thing is that beyond the gags which get both dumber and more offensive the longer "Dumb and Dumber To" goes on there isn't anything else to the movie. The storyline is pretty non existent, although truth be told that was expect and whilst we have a few familiar faces showing up such as Kathleen Turner it isn't enough to provide a distraction when the moronic nature of the humour fails.

What this all boils down to is that despite being well aware what I was going to be watching "Dumb and Dumber To" ended up simply too moronic for my tastes. Maybe 20 years ago I would have found more of this funny but now the moronic nature of it ended up boring me.
