Costas Mandylor in Intrepid (2000) (aka: Deep Water)

The Poseidon Misadventure

Alan Decker (Costas Mandylor) and Max Dennis are a top Navy special ops team who following their latest highly dangerous mission are not overly impressed with their next job. Sabrina Masters (Sonia Satra), the daughter of a VIP, is a board a cruise ship and whilst her father has bodyguards assigned to her, Alan and Max find themselves on the cruise ship to watch over her in secret. But when a naval jet crashes in to the ocean not too far from the cruise ship things take a surprising turn as a nuclear bomb it is carrying goes off causing a gigantic tidal wave which leads to the cruise ship capsizing. Now our heroes have a new mission, to lead a group to safety and out of the capsized boat whilst protecting Sabrina at the same time.

Yes "Intrepid", which also goes by the name of "Deep Water", is a movie clearly influenced by "The Poseidon Adventure" with a disaster causing a capsized boat and a group trying to find their way off. But this throws in some other ideas in to the mix and of course there are some bad guys aboard the ship who are there on a mission which gives are heroes a second issue to contend with. And well whilst I could go on and mention other ideas in this movie I really should say it isn't that good although at times it borders being on enjoyably bad.

Part of what makes it enjoyably bad is that all the actors play their parts with an almost tongue in cheek style, knowingly delivering the dialogue and actions in a full on, over the top nature yet not for laughs. And in many ways the over the top delivery of tough guy dialogue and quips makes "Intrepid" just bad rather than utterly terrible.

What this all boils down to is that "Intrepid" is a bad movie which unrepentantly draws on other movies and delivers over the top dialogue in a forced nature which makes it the sort of movie which borders on being enjoyable for being bad.
