You Won't Believe It

Elmer (Sean Donnelly) is one of Santa's (Rich Mann) little helpers but he has grown despondent with all the work, work, work as well as the constantly cold weather at the North Pole and wishes he was a normal boy who got gifts like all the other children. One day when he is messing about on Santa's sleigh he accidentally drops some of Santa's magic dust and the sleigh takes him on a journey where he crashes down in the small community of Plantville where local girl Jolie (Margo Harshman) on discovering who he is takes him in. The sight of the sleigh coming crashing down leads to a frenzy about a possible UFO and that causes issues for devious businessman and the Mayor who are up to no good.

Oh dear what is there to say about "The Elf Who Didn't Believe" because it is one of the tackiest Christmas movies I have ever watched. Everything about it is extremely corny and whilst I accept this is a movie which most certainly is for young children the cheapness of it all makes it a hard slog. To put it into perspective, the opening scene which takes us to the North Pole features the least convincing model you will see and then the actual sets leave a lot to the imagination.

But it is not just the look which is wrong with "The Elf Who Didn't Believe" because the storyline is just as ropey with various cliches from corrupt businessmen to a head elf that is panicking about Christmas with the sleigh gone. Even the dialogue is terrible with more corny lines thrown in than I have heard in several Christmas movies combined. And as for the acting, well this is a movie full of people you will never heard of, maybe a couple who you might recognize as for fans of "The Big Bang Theory" it features a young Margo Harshman who played Sheldon's assistant Alex in a few episodes.

What this all boils down to is that "The Elf Who Didn't Believe" is a movie made for young children and only for young children with its cheap look and lack of originality. If you watch it out of a love for Christmas movies you are going to end up disappointed.
