The Nutcracker in 3D (2010)

Tchaikovsky & Einstein are Turning in their Graves

It's Christmas Eve and Uncle Albert Einstein (Nathan Lane) has come to baby-sit his niece and nephew Mary (Elle Fanning) and Max (Aaron Michael Drozen) at their home in Austria. And for Mary he has brought her a very special wooden doll which he calls N.C as in Nutcracker. But as Mary drifts off to sleep she finds herself transported into another kingdom where she discovers the toy doll is in fat a prince and whose kingdom has bee seized control of by a rat....

What the frickedy frack was that. I am sorry but I am dumb struck by "The Nutcracker in 3D" an utter cacophony which kind of reminded me of the musical which appears in "The Producers". From a musical number which features Einstein singing about Relativity to a rat army which look more like a Nazi army it is seriously out there and certainly not entertaining for being that way. The worst thing about this is that it is at times so creepy I wouldn't want children watching it in case it gave them nightmares with many of the references seeming to target adults and some such as a smoking monkey just weird.

What this all boils down to is that whilst money has clearly been spent on "The Nutcracker in 3D" the end product is simply misguided and the sort of movie I think I would once have enjoyed when I came out plastered from a night out and would have found it all strangely entertaining.
