Field of Wayne
Wayne (Mike Myers) and Garth (Dana Carvey) have moved into their own apartment and are still running their popular cable chat show whilst Wayne is still dating Cassandra (Tia Carrere). But not only does Wayne find himself wanting to put on a rock festival after getting visited by Jim Morrison and a naked Indian during a dream but Cassandra has a new producer in Bobby Cahn (Christopher Walken) who is attempting to take Cassandra back to L.A and marry her in the process.
After watching "Wayne's World 2" for the first time since it probably came out it suddenly struck me, Mike Myers is like Adam Sandler. They both have a certain comedic style and both are entertaining in small doses but usually an hour and a half of them is just too much. It is why early on in their careers they were both entertainingly funny but with every movie they have made since the less entertaining they have become with their comedic limitations becoming increasingly apparent.
This is certainly the case when it comes to "Wayne's World 2" as whilst we have this storyline which sees Wayne having woman trouble and also setting up the rock festival Wayne's Stock all we have is really a series of set piece gags and cameos as well as some jokes repeated from the first movie. Now back in 1993 I admittedly found all of this funny but now I started to find it all pretty tedious. In fact watching this I found Mike Myers' limitations all the more apparent by the number of silly voices I had heard him use again and again in other movies.
What this all boils down to is that "Wayne's World 2" was back in the early 90s a lot of fun but twenty years later not only is it less funny than I remembered but it shows up Mick Myers limited comedic range with far too many jokes and voices which he has used many times since.
